WHERE TO GO
Places to visit You must go to Pozo Azul, a natural pool where you can swim in crystal-clear water. You should also check out the Marinka Waterfalls, they are higher and more impressive. Another place you must visit is a traditional coffee farm, where a guide will show you around and explain the coffee process. Finally, you have to hike up to Los Pinos viewpoint, where you can look out over the mountains and see Santa Marta and the Caribbean Sea.
Pozo Azul
From Santa Marta, you can start off your adventure by taking a van from the public market square. For only 8,000 COP, you will enjoy a 45-minute trip to the picturesque village of Minca.
“I used to think the hike was too difficult, but once I tried it, I realized it was unforgettable. If you take the walking path, you will come across small rivers, trees, and birds on your way.”
How to Get to Pozo Azul
Once you arrive in Minca, you will have two options to reach the waterfall. You can go on a hike of about 30 minutes from the main road. Although the path is sometimes steep and rocky, the reward is worth it. For this option, you must wear comfortable shoes that give you stability on the trail.
If you prefer a faster experience, you can hop on a motorcycle taxi, which costs about 10,000 COP. However, we strongly recommend walking. The trail is not too long, and if you walk, you will fully enjoy the natural scenery. Also, you will avoid the stress of going over rocky roads by motorbike.
